I am BACK from beautiful and amazing Peru and I am only a few pounds heavier, which isn't a big deal considering that I have been back since Wednesday night and have been eating tons of carbohydrates, candy bars, ice cream, everything in excess. I just hit the store and bought romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, tofu and white cheese so that I can get back on the salad bandwagon. I also can't think of anything I particularly care to eat at this point (other than salad) but I had better figure it out before I get hungry and then eat whatever is convenient and bad for me.

Here are my stats as of today, July 26:

height: 5'9.5"
weight: 173.5
bmi: 25.3
immediate goal: 160 / bmi 23.3
ultimate goal: 144 / bmi 21.0

After a weekend in Las Vegas, I was sure I would kill my diet. I managed to eat on-program for two of three days, stopping only on my final day to eat deep fried macaroni and cheese balls, a reuben sandwich, and a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Additionally, I drank all three days, so I'm not surprised about my weight gain, but it could have been so much worse.

height: 5'9.5"
weight: 168.8
bmi: 24.6
gain: 2.2

I would like to be around 164-165 by the time I leave for Peru next Tuesday. As for the month, I'm down 7.2 pounds since I started, which isn't bad at all. If I can lose 7 pounds a month, I'll be at my goal by the end of the year with plenty of time to practice maintenance. Hopefully I won't be too challenged during my Peruvian adventure (two weeks!) but I'm planning to buy and bring some Atkins snack/meal-replacement bars in case I run out of options, but I figure if I constantly eat my favorite food ever (salad, nom nom) and stay away from rice and other grains, I'll be good. I'm going to try not to drink very often, although I may partake in some delicious wine while I'm in Lima. I'm going with a group of drinkin' gals, so I'm sure my motivation to stay off liquor while I'm in Lima will be zilch - it will be much easier to remain on-track while I'm staying with my host family in Cuzco.

I can't wait! I'm still partially packed from my trip to Las Vegas so I don't have much to worry about. By the way, my photos from Vegas are horrible. I look chunkers in basically all of them. Gah.
I'm updating with a weigh-in before I head to the airport, since I won't be able to weigh-in or update on Sunday. This way, we won't have to wait two weeks for a results post.

First of all, let me admit that in my desire to eat on-the-go, I've started eating Atkins Advantage Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars, which are allegedly okay during induction. However, I like to eat as much unprocessed food as possible, and while these only have 2g net carbohydrates per bar, I'm really going to have to find a cheaper and less-processed option for on-the-go eating.

I'm taking about 5 of these bars with me to Las Vegas, since they are a cheaper option to eating out three times a day. Also, good for snacks. Unfortunately, I have noticed that I've stalled since eating the A-bars, so I'll be off them after this weekend.

Height: 5'9.5"
Weight: 166.5
BMI: 24.2

I'll update when my weekend in Las Vegas is over!
First order of business today is posting the results of my weigh-in and measurement-taking:

height: 5'9.5"
weight: 167.4
bmi: 24.4
loss: 3.8 lbs

bust: 42" (-1.5")
waist: 34" (-1")
hips: 40" (-0")

Some other things, before I leave the house...

(1) My big cranky dog bit my boyfriend's mom's little barely-six-pound dog yesterday and we spent a great part of the evening at the vet. She seems to be doing okay but I am totally crushed about it and need to send P's mom a card to apologize even more than I already have. I'm also going to find a way to reimburse P for the $507.00 vet bill. I don't want to think about the poor little dog right now but I'm sending all of my get-well-soon vibes to her.

(2) The washing machine in my pantry is broken, so I'll be spending some time at the laundromat today. Fine with me - I've been reading a series of books that a friend got me hooked to, and I have a difficult time putting them down. They're definitely guilty pleasure reads (P teases me all the time about it), but I recommend them to anyone that loves a good mystery novel: the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris. I think she just published book 9, and 10 is on the way...? Anyway. I'm on book four. I have time.

(3) I really need to clean/organize my bedroom today before it starts to overwhelm me.

(4) I have to check if the various libraries I use are open today. I have at least ten books on hold for me!

(5) Finally, I have some homework to do (for my LSAT class as well as for my cultural autobiography). I had better get on it!

Even after my disappointing food day on Friday, I had a decent weigh-in today. Not as wonderful as it WOULD have been, but I've got no complaints since I'm still down from last week.

Weight: 171.2 lbs
BMI: 24.9

I had a great food day yesterday. Paul and I went to Red Lobster for dinner where I ate a medium-cooked sirloin steak with a few pieces of jumbo shrimp in garlic-butter sauce, a portion of broccoli, and a little Caesar salad as a starter.

We went shopping all afternoon, skipped a concert we were thinking about going to, and while we watched Bill Maher's "Religulous" at home, I ate some salad that was leftover from dinner on Friday. I also had a little desserty treat in the way of thick cream and a little cream cheese, one packet of Splenda, and yum!
Here we go, y'all: First weigh-in, on AD for 4 days.

5'9.5"
172.8 lbs
25.1 BMI
Loss: 3.2 lbs

NICE.

I made a shopping list last night for the next week or so. During days that I have both work and school, I'll probably have an omelet for breakfast, a spinach and iceberg salad for lunch with tuna, and some sauteed veggies with tuna/mayo for lunch. I am probably going to get so tired of tuna, but it's the only thing I can think of that travels well. I also have some snack ideas (canned pumpkin with Splenda and a little cream cheese, or turkey and cream cheese roll ups, that sort of thing).

WOO HOO!

About the Eggbeater

I'm a recent college graduate, working three jobs, still attending classes for a second degree, and currently enrolled in a grueling LSAT prep course. I was born and raised in the Rocky Mountain area of the United States, and I live here with my family and 85-pound dog-ter.

I've always been kind of up-and-down with my weight: my lowest weight of all time was around 148 pounds, but didn't stay there for long. My highest weight in my entire life was 190 pounds, but I've been in the 170s for quite some time now.

Aside from being a motivating tool to garner results, this blog is an attempt to prove that even as a busy girl with three jobs, school, and a dog, I can find the time and motivation to make the Atkins lifestyle work for me.

My starting weight on 6/3/2010 was 176 lbs. My goal is 144.
